Joon Kim announces the release of ‘Landscapes Invisible’

Masan, South Korea – An image leaflet has been laid on the bookshelf in Joon Kim’s study since he got it free in the year of 2000 in an art gallery in downtown Portland where he happened to see a street flamenco show for the first time in his life. At that time, a flamenco dancer named Helena who loves Korean paintings was there in the city.

Kim’s general fiction based on facts titled “Landscapes Invisible” is mainly made up of the email letters exchanged between one American flamenco woman dancer and one Korean traveler. And the email letters exchanged between the two tell a simple story of a flamenco dancer's passion, dream, despair and new start as a street dancer. This fiction based on Kim’s personal experience of traveling are filled with his writing life, viewpoints of literature and art expressed through the stream of consciousness of a character named Inu, a Korean writer.

“Groping to find out a way through the repeated frustration after frustration in the long journey of life! And in the journey of life, there were sweet moments of rest in the midst of the bitter frustrations. I was fortunate to have precious moments to see or hear flamenco the old and the new and appreciate the cello concerto of Dvorak,” Kim says. “Of course there have been other precious moments to get happiness of the soul in my old age, too. This way of my life, is thought to be included, visibly or invisibly, in this epistolary novel.”

“Landscapes Invisible” is a literary work that shows Kim’s desire to make a cross cultural harmonization of Spanish flamenco art and Korean traditional music.
